錯在哪裡
空格前面確實有一句好話：make the house greener and the air fresher, that will do （想讓家裡綠一點、空氣清新一點，那沒問題）。
於是 (B) are a joy to be around（待在旁邊很舒服）讀起來很順。
但那句好話後面緊接著兩個字：But remember（但是要記得）。
But remember 是一個「準備要潑冷水」的訊號—— 它後面接的一定是提醒、警告，不會是稱讚。
而且空格的後面還有一句：Do not forget — you need stronger and safer ways to protect… （別忘了，你需要更強、更安全的防護方式）。
空格被「But remember」和「Do not forget」兩個提醒語前後夾住， 中間這一句只能是「植物不夠力」，不可能是「植物很棒」。
錯因：只看空格前面最近的那半句，沒有看住空格前後的語氣訊號。
正確解法

兩邊都在講「植物不夠，你需要更強的方法」。
中間這句如果變成稱讚，整段的語氣就斷掉了。
語氣一致，是整句填空題最容易被忽略、卻最好用的判準。

整篇報告的主張只有一句話：植物有一點用，但不夠。
空格是這個主張的其中一環，方向必須一致。
連最後一句都寫 Jim 讀完報告後「決定不買」——證明報告是在勸退，不是推薦。

離題。整段在講「防蚊效果」，不是在講「好不好買」。

only（只）和 a few（少數幾隻）兩個字都在「打折」，
正是 But remember 要的那種提醒。
而且它和後面 you need stronger and safer ways 形成完整的邏輯： 因為只趕得走幾隻，所以你需要更強的方法。
要記住的觀念
- 整句填空，先確認「這一句該站在哪一邊」。 語氣（稱讚／提醒、支持／反對）比單字更早決定答案。
- 這些字出現，後面一定是「潑冷水」：
But remember / Do not forget / However / Keep in mind / The problem is
看到它們，就把所有正面的選項先劃掉。 - only、a few、a little、just 這些「打折字」是正確答案的指紋。 當文章的立場是「有效果，但有限」時，答案裡幾乎一定有其中一個。
- 先讀完整篇再回頭填空。 這題最後一句 Jim decided not to buy the plants 直接宣告了報告的結論是「不推薦」—— 先看到這句，(C) 那種「神奇有效」的選項連考慮都不用。
- 不要被「最近的那半句」綁架。 空格前面剛好有 greener、fresher 兩個好字， 但真正管事的是更前面的 but they cannot stop all the mosquitoes 和緊貼著空格的 But remember。

(B)。判斷方式和本題完全一樣：
空格被 But remember（前）和 Do not forget（後）夾住 → 這句必須是「提醒風險」。
(A)(C)(D) 全都是在稱讚跑步的好處，
放進去以後，後面那句「別忘了熱身、穿對鞋子」就沒有理由存在。
只有 (B) 提到「用錯方式會傷膝蓋」，才解釋得了為什麼要熱身和穿對鞋。
再記一次這個結構：
好話 ＋ But remember ＋【風險】＋ Do not forget ＋【該做的預防】。
中間那格永遠是風險，不會是好話。
